Registered Clinical Counsellor #12085
She/Her
Hello, I’m Tia, and I’m so happy that you are here.
I have worked as a registered clinical counsellor in a private practice and university setting for over 14 years. I have rich experience working with youth, adults, couples and families and other diverse client populations who have often been faced with traumatic experiences and dealing with complex therapeutic issues.
I always start therapy by getting to know you and your life challenges and goals. Based on that, we can come up with a plan for your therapy, as well as the optimal therapeutic approach. My therapeutic approaches rely heavily on neuroscience, evidence-based interventions, and the natural healing processes of the body and mind.
I’m a big fan of Trauma-Informed Care, Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction, as well as Body (somatic)-Based Trauma interventions combined with Cognitive-Behavioural Therapy. Apart from that, I have the following qualifications:
- Eye Movement Desensitization & Reprocessing (EMDR trauma therapy) Level 1
- Critical Incident Group Debriefing,
- Trauma Centre Trauma Sensitive Yoga facilitator (TCTSY-F)
- Neurobiology of Feeling Safe (Interpersonal Neurobiology) Level 1 & 2
- Advanced Clinical Trauma-Informed Interventions for Counselling First Nation/Indigenous Clients
